Nothing here needs an account. These are the questions that actually arrive, answered in the order they tend to come up. If yours is not here, email [email protected] — from inside the app, Profile → Email support fills in your version and role so you do not have to describe your setup.
1. How do I add my team?
Team → the + button. There are two ways, and the right one depends on whether you know their email address.
A join link is one link for the whole store. Share it in a group chat or read out the six-character code; whoever opens it joins with the role and starting wage you set on the link. Nobody has to be typed in one at a time, and you can rotate the link at any point, which immediately kills the old one.
An invitation by email is one person at a time, and is the right choice when you want their wage or position set before they arrive. They get an email; until they open it their row shows Invited and they cannot be scheduled.
If a row still says Invited after a day, tap the refresh icon on it to send the reminder again — one per hour per person. If we could not deliver it at all, the row says so and names the address, which is almost always where the typo is.
2. My employee says they cannot see their shifts
Almost always because the week is still a draft. A shift you create is a draft until you publish it, and a draft is invisible to the person it is assigned to — that is the point of it, so you can build a week without anybody reacting to a half-finished one.
Open Schedule, check the week, and use Publish. Only then does the shift appear on their phone, and only then are they told about it.
This is enforced by the database, not by the app hiding a row, so there is no version of it where a draft leaks.
If the week is published and they still see nothing: check that they show as Active on your Team screen rather than Invited, and that they are signed in with the address you invited.
3. How is overtime worked out?
By your store's province, because there is no single Canadian rule. Aavanu applies the general standard for an hourly employee:
- Ontario, Alberta, New Brunswick — after 44 hours a week.
- BC, Manitoba, Quebec, Saskatchewan, Newfoundland, the territories — after 40.
- Nova Scotia, PEI — after 48.
- Alberta, BC, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, the territories also band after 8 hours in a single day; BC pays double time past 12 in a day.
Daily overtime is counted first and taken out of the weekly total, so no hour is ever paid twice. The week runs Sunday to Saturday.
What Aavanu does not include: statutory holiday pay, vacation accrual, source deductions, shift premiums, tips, averaging agreements, sector exemptions, and minimum reporting pay. It is a scheduling estimate for planning what a week will cost — your payroll provider is the final word on what anybody is owed.
If your store's province is one we do not hold standards for, the reports screen says so and shows no dollar figure rather than a wrong one.
4. How do I change someone's wage?
Team → tap the person → Pay & position. A wage belongs to a person at a store, so somebody who works two of your shops can be on two different rates and both are costed correctly.
Wages are not visible to anybody but you and the person themselves. That is enforced in the database — a colleague's device never receives the number at all.
A raise applies from today. Hours already worked keep the rate they were worked at, so a report or an export of a closed period does not change when you put somebody up. Aavanu records every rate with the date it took effect and prices each shift against the one in force on its own day — which is what makes a payroll run you have already paid from reproducible.
5. How do I add a second store?
Home → the store name at the top → Add store. Each store has its own roster, schedule, tasks and chat, and its own province, so a shop in Vancouver is banded at 40 hours while one in Toronto is banded at 44.
The same person can be on more than one roster, at a different wage and position on each. They switch between stores the same way you do.
Reports are per store today; a roll-up across all of them is on the roadmap.
6. What do the columns in the exported CSV mean?
Reports → the share icon. One row per person for the period you are looking at, with a totals line at the end.
- Regular hours
- Paid hours below the overtime thresholds, after unpaid breaks are taken off.
- Overtime hours
- Hours at 1.5×. Does not include double-time hours.
- Double-time hours
- BC only, past 12 hours in a day.
- Total hours
- The three above, added up.
- Hourly wage
- The rate on that person's membership at this store, as it stands today. The pay columns beside it use the rate in force on each shift's own date, which is not the same number after a raise.
- Regular pay / Overtime pay / Total pay
- Hours × rate, with the premium applied to the overtime bands. Rounded once, at the end.
- Shifts
- How many shifts the row covers.
- Scheduled vs actual hours
- What you planned against what was punched, for the shifts somebody clocked in for. Only those shifts are comparable, so the counts can differ from Total hours.
Where a clock punch exists it wins over the schedule, because that is what you will actually pay. The file carries the store, province and period in a header block, and the same disclaimer that appears on screen — a CSV gets forwarded to an accountant long after it leaves the screen that qualified it.
An owner who works their own floor is scheduled and counted like anyone else, but their hours are not priced: a rate nobody pays them would produce a wage bill that is not one.
7. How do I delete my account?
Profile → Delete account. It deletes on our servers, not just on your phone, and it is not reversible.
If you are an owner, your stores go with it. There is no way to hand a store to a second owner today, so deleting an owner account deletes its stores and everything under them — rosters, schedules, wages and chat. The confirmation says how many stores that is before you tap. Export anything you need for payroll first.
If you are an employee, your account and your own history go; the schedule your employer built stays, with your name off it.
You can also email [email protected] and we will do it for you within 30 days. See the privacy policy for what is kept and for how long.
8. What does it cost?
Nothing is charged today. Aavanu is pre-launch and there is no billing in the app at all — no card, no trial clock, no purchase screen.
Two things we will commit to now, because they are the reason to pick this over the alternatives:
- Never per employee. Pricing will be per location. Adding somebody to a roster will never cost more.
- Never a data hostage. If a plan lapses, the account becomes read-only and exportable. Nothing is deleted for non-payment.
When billing does arrive it will be on this website, not in the app.
Still stuck?
Anything at all:

From inside the app, Profile → Email support writes the same message with your app version, role and store count already filled in, which is usually the difference between one reply and four.
